The Sandpit Poolroom and Bar benefits from excellent tourism and local support in one of NZ's busiest backpacker locations.

The business is ideally located amongst the backpacker and motel region only 150m from the beach. Boasting 9 x 9ft professional series Olio pool tables it is the largest live sports viewing venue /tavern in Paihia, with SkySports in HD with a projector screen and two large flat screen HD TVs and smaller TV in VIP area. There are also coin operated foosball and pin ball machines.

The bar sponsors a rugby club and has regular sport promotions and pool competitions.

The Sandpit currently operates seven days from 5pm till 1am December to March. April & May; six days from 5pm till 1am. June-August, five days per week. September - December, six days. The current license is of a Tavern (11am till 1am).
