The original home was constructed in 1946. Ten years ago an architecturally designed extension was added. This involves a large integrated garage workshop complete with water supply and tub and a second storey with three bedrooms, ensuite/bathroom, separate living area with kitchenette, and deck.

Downstairs, are two more bedrooms including the original master bedroom which now has an ensuite. There is a spacious lounge with separate dining area and large kitchen. There is also a sun-drenched conservatory which brings a sense of outdoors inside.

The living areas catch the sun through the day and the new extensions are fully insulated and partially double glazed. The ceiling space of the original house was well insulated and at the time of the extension, polythene and Sisalation paper were installed under the floors. At the same time the original house received a new roof and woollen insulation into the top parts of the walls.

There is a new freestanding fireplace situated between the kitchen and dining area and a combined heat transfer and roof ventilation system moves warm air throughout the house. The new part of the house has solar water heating. The original part of the house had an efficient hot water heat pump system and new cylinder installed two years ago.

The large back section faces north and catches all-day sun. There are numerous fruit trees, berries and vines along with a veggie patch for the gardening enthusiast
